One of the major obstacles in RI after the Emergency Direct Sales Dealers license was approved (which is going to be permanently approved moving forward) is getting the word out to consumers that they now can come to the boats to purchase fresh caught product. If anyone has any tips on affordable ways to do that, it would be greatly appreciated!!

For Shareen Davis: which nonprofit did you partner with to help with food distribution to seniors and school kids and did this connect also with local school efforts to feed kids/families during pandemic?

01:15:40
Thanks everyone, have to jump to another call. Really interesting stuff today!

01:16:22
Lauren: What would be needed to sustain your seafood donation program long-term? Is there a need?

01:17:46
There is a definite need and we are writing grants as fast as we can to keep funding available. We're also hosting a local fundraiser in Sitka and continuing to solicit donations from our ALFA members and Alaskans Own CSF Customers

01:19:44
Josh & Lauren (& maybe Frank?) the RI Food Policy Council is also working on how to sustain efforts to keep local seafood in emergency food efforts long term. Specific issues in RI incl processing. They are trying to figure out how to sustain beyond grant programs. You may want to connect for shared lessons learned!
