Jill, I brought my office chair home and it's made a HUGE difference! I also have my docking station and second monitor, and it's made life so much easier. It took about 30 minutes total to bring it home (that doesn't include driving time, unfortunately).

39:05
Introvert here---but do need contact with people.

42:55
I have been meeting my students on line to work on their resume, job search strategies, cover letters, etc.

47:29
Is anyone using MS teams with your clients? If so, how are you using it...

49:09
It seems no matter where I set up, my kids need me anytime I’m on a call

49:30
Same here, Kate!

52:02
Hi all, you may hear from me now that we have introduced ourselves and I believe we can be helpful to each other. JBK from COA

52:02
@Deb We are using Teams but mostly with the career team (and we’re learning). Although my students have Teams on their devices, they seem to prefer email and calls. I don’t know if they are simply unfamiliar?

52:32
Margaret-I feel you! Five-year old twins at home. Adjusting to this new normal is difficult. I’m thinking about putting a lock on my “office” ;)

53:34
We are using Slack for the Bates team, too!

53:38
For those of you working with students, are you advising them to file for unemployment?

54:23
I work for Goodwill--workforce solutions--techhire grant. I have been advising many on how to apply for unemployment.

54:39
anyone who is out of work bc of this ive been working with them to get on unemployment

55:17
Is anyone hearing from clients, particularly those that have lost a job because of al this, that they want to start or go back to school?

55:39
I’m worried about our Seniors and interns. I’m doing a lot of reassuring.

56:29
The issues we are having with techhire is we are partnered with ad ed and they are shut down---and slow getting on line classes going forward.

56:56
Would also love to hear how people are dealing with internships

57:41
One of my OJT and they are on hold for now.

59:44
Samantha, as a fellow childless individual, finding others to occupy my time (like watching Tiger King on Netflix -- what the heck?) has been super helpful.

59:52
*other ways

01:00:09
Sam, I have a middle child that I can send your way ;)

01:00:28
BJ, I’m good haha

01:00:36
I was just going to say to Samantha that she can borrow my 13 year old for a while.

01:00:53
Samantha and Peter we should share some of those things. I find myself feeling low and missing the interaction

01:00:57
I appreciate you all but I don’t need/want your kids

01:01:04
Haha and I mean that in the nicest way

01:01:20
That's what wine is for ;)

01:02:41
I'm an introvert, single, with no kids. Can I say that this is all bliss? Except for the fact that I don't live by the ocean!

01:02:56
Sam I can relate, I live alone with a cat. The introversion is going too far. I call a new person each night, find funny things on line, Jimmy Fallon, funny virus songs, comedians, go out for walks...trying to stay sane. It is a challenge.

01:06:11
Jill--will you add that information you just said in the chat box

01:08:30
This is the link to the page, that Jill mentioned: https://usm.maine.edu/career-and-employment-hub/employment-resources-those-affected-covid-19-and-others

01:09:12
Thank you!

01:12:07
I have to hop off the call but thank you all for the rich conversation

01:13:42
I’m working on learning new technology (QuickTime) to develop new remote workshops for students. It’s becoming a family activity. Yesterday, I learned how to edit audio in iMovie!

01:15:35
That is great, GREAT advice, Crisanne! Thank you!

01:16:28
one of the things that has come up is when we get the other side of this--I want to be sure that I have done the things I wanted to do.

01:16:59
I agree Joe--we don'tknow what we don't know at this

01:17:07
time

01:19:49
Last week unemployment took over 21000 unemployment claims compared to 600 the previous weeks. They have has to bring people from other departments to help with the claims. They are encouraging to use the web site instead of calls bc of the back load

01:22:24
First Atlantic Healthcare and American Roots need people

01:22:54
allied universal is looking and I have a great contact

01:24:24
Here are some multilingual resources for students and clients : https://www.portlandofopportunity.com/covid19

01:29:20
Google classroom!

01:36:23
I need to leave for a student appointment. It was great “seeing” you all! Thank you for all you do. Have a great rest of your day! :)

01:36:43
I am interested in finding out links for seniors who have not only spring online (a first for COA), remaining requirements and then the job/graduate school journey. Would appreciate any links you have found helpful. Have the usual for usual times (?) so looking for resources for this period of time...thanks so much, Jill

01:40:49
Need to jump off--next Zoom call.

01:41:31
Gotta zoom out too, loved to "see" all of you. Have ag rest of the week!

01:41:41
JBK: This came through to us from LACN: Live-time employer status resource for students (or clients) looking nationwide: https://candor.co/hiring-freezes/

01:42:07
I have to hop off, too. Thanks, Stacy and Joe, for organizing and facilitating. This was great! Maybe we do it even more frequently?

01:42:42
Me too, dropping off - thanks so much all - this was my first Cafe - loved it!

01:43:15
Same call as Marianne and Peter! Thank you for this!

01:43:22
Sure!

01:43:33
This platform allowed me to actually participate. Please, do it again!

01:43:34
Yes, please. This has been great!

01:43:39
Yes

01:43:47
Thanks Stacy and Joe!!!

01:43:50
